Good seafood options for lunch. Located on the 2nd floor of the same building as Ray's Boathouse, this is casual dining with a killer view. In warm months, exterior patio seating us available. Came in with 2 friends. They had the fish and chips, salmon sandwich, and drinks. I had the scallops carbonara and chowder. Food was really good. Friendly hostesses and the executive chef opened the door for me. Our server asked what protein to add to the pasta and stated options. Chose salmon. Surprised when the check came when the $32 pasta dish was now $62 with an upcharge for the salmon. Asked the server what was up with that, and he said it didn't come with but was extra. Told him the way he asked wasn't clear about that. I was more focused on my friends I hadn't sent since May then reading menu details. He shrugged. I emailed Doug, the GM, so he was aware and could go over this with the server. Doug refunded all of the meals as an apology, which I didn't ask for at all. Found that quite generous and he gave the refunds quickly. Looking forward to coming back soon. Can't beat the aesthetic. The giant free parking is appreciated as well.

Yay for Ray! This place never disappoints! Their upstairs (cafe) has a good vibe; it's cheerful, nicely decorated, and not too noisy. They must be doing something right, because in all the years I have been coming here, I notice many of the same employees. I only wish they would bring back the warm dinner rolls!

Ray's. I was entranced by the sprawling, glass-wrapped deck & sat perched within high-diving distance of the breezy Puget Sound and heart-swelling views of the vast Olympic Mountains. This dockside legend is a quintessential beacon along the shores of Shilshole Bay showcasing an archetypal seafood menu, with pristine sourcing keeping it ocean to plate. Dishes are prepared simply, allowing the natural flavors of the regional bounty to shine through & my favorite was the Pacific Northwest Mussels-fresh steamed local mussels drenched in a flavor-packed Thai style red curry with a fragrant coconut milk broth & a toasted French baguette. Iconic.

Ambiance is relaxing, good music -soft rock, 70's, 80's, etc. Great staff, fast service. Delicious Bloody Mary! First time here and had a lovely time seating close to the fireplace located on the second floor. We actually started at the bar. Had a cup of strong coffee with cream and sugar. That was satisfying while I pondered over the dinner menu. We were waiting for our reservation time at the bar. Husband opted for brandy on the rocks. Finally, at our designated table, we opted for the starter, the seafood Cioppino. It had clams, mussels, pieces of fatty salmon chunks simmered in a nice red sauce with a hint of white wine. It came with some toasted bread to dip in the sauce. That was so delicious and filling. We hesitated for entrees but we went for it anyway. I asked for the scallops carbonara with big cuts of panchetta in a nice creamy white sauce. It was also savory and delicious but I wish the noodles were a little thinner. However, it was still worth the try. Husband had the prime rib with savory, buttery mashed potatoes and broccolini's. He barely touched it though because he was already full. Both he and I asked for some boxes to take the rest of our dinner. All was good and served nicely with presentation. The whole service was pleasant and enjoyable. I felt relaxed while sipping on my drink which, was a very well mixed Bloody Mary. We were told that the first floor was more upscale but I think being on the second floor was just as good and more casual. This was our first time here and I recommend it for good date nights. The meals were well portioned and not very expensive. It was just right. There are plenty of parking but get here before 5pm and I highly recommend making a reservation. We've been wanting to come here for years but life happens and forgot all about it. Thankfully, my husband remembers and just had to make it happen on our special day- our 30th year of marriage. Another memorable memory that can't ever be replicated. If you're a hopeless romantic, bring your other half for a special intimate dinner.

Hubby and I came here for my birthday dinner, as I wanted a nice meal from a traditional Seattle restaurant. I don't think that I've ever had a bad meal at Ray's Boathouse or the Cafe. This visit was no different. MB, fellow Yelper, had recently visited for lunch and her pics were crave worthy, especially the calamari and the smoked scallop carbonara, which we ordered. I decided on two entrees - the carbonara and the sablefish in sake kasu, which I've enjoyed on previous visits. Hubby ordered the fish & chips. He ended up eating most of the carbonara and boxing up half of the fish and chips. The carbonara was delicious with the smoked scallops. Ray's is a Seattle institution and I was surprised that they did not offer a complimentary dessert on your birthday. Regardless, the brownie a la mode was delicious! Food was great, service was lukewarm. The hostess at both entries were friendly and greeted us. We felt rushed by our server during our meal. The quality of the meal was not commensurate with the service we received. This is exactly the decadent meal I was expecting for my birthday. I would definitely come back, but not likely for a special occasion.

Love this place - so much so that I almost wanted to gatekeep and skip a review! The great food and service deserves a write-up. All the staff - both downstairs at the Boathouse and upstairs at the Cafe - are very kind and attentive. The happy hour is stellar, and don't get me started on the waterfront views - something strangely rare in this town! Wish they had oysters for happy hour, and opened up all outdoor seating during service so everyone can sit along the glass, instead of on the inside row when it's not full.

We went here on a Saturday around 1pm for lunch. I was surprised at how busy they were! Unfortunately we didn't make a reservation and there was a 45 min wait for outdoor seating, so we opted to sit inside. The view from outside is beautiful and luckily we were still able to see out the window. Our server was nice and quick. For food, we got the Dungeness crab dip as an appetizer and wow was this amazing! Highly recommend (although it is pricy). For my meal, I got the creamy lemon ricotta rotini and wow it was definitely lemony and the pasta was super over cooked and squishy. I was not a fan and barely ate any of it. My husband got the ribeye and he said it was incredible. We added on a cluster of crab legs and those were cooked well. Overall, this place has a beautiful view and a fun, casual vibe indoors but the food is pricy for what you get.
